A Late Regency Period Gold Portrait Bracelet With Historical Provenance.
Wide herringbone mesh links (tests approximately 18ct) to a central oval cannetille and filigree panel set with mine-cut diamonds enclosing an oval portrait in oils of a child, within a glazed compartment. The child is John Levien, the son of Mary Levien (née Goldsmid b.1793. d.1858) who married John Levien Snr. in 1817. Her father Abraham Goldsmid (1756-1810) was a financier and intimate friend of both George III and the Prince Regent, offering advice and financial assistance during the Napoleonic Wars. The bracelet has passed by direct descent to the vendor. With documentation of provenance.
