An Elam art graduate, Hitchens is a multifaceted artist who has a wide ranging art practice spanning sculpture, painting and installation art-making. The artist has also completed a number of large scale public commissions in Auckland, Manukau and Hamilton. His art practice has featured in numerous art publications and can be found in collections such as the Auckland Art Gallery, Te Papa Tongarewa, Waikato museum, Auckland City Council and Beaucroft Collection.
