Thirty-three photographs concerning early New Zealand mountaineering including six attributed to G E Mannering.

19th century. Approx 70 x 100mm. Mounted on card (as if disbound from album). Mount FX and browned. Images with losses. Subjects include Grey Glacier, Godley Glacier, Mount Livingstone, Mount Petermann etc. Dated February 1892. 6 unattributed photographs of similar size to verso. Along with 21 larger photographs (all mounted on card and annotated/captioned) including 4 images of Mannering and colleagues (Johnson, Dixon etc), a studio portrait of a trio with picks and axes (named Ulrich Kaufmann, Emil Boss and H S Green), and various alpine views.
