The New Zealand fine wine market has seen strong growth which correlates strongly to international trends. The demand is both local and international with New Zealand collectors competing with international demand. This often had the effect of galvanizing the local bidder who often out bid the international competition. Total supply increased which helped satisfy strong demand for investment quality wine that resulted in total turnover increasing by a staggering 78.8%. The demand for quality mid range wines ($30-$60) also saw strong growth which reflects new collectors entering the market seeking quality aged wines at market value.
