Of enormous historical significance is a works by the WWI artists who painted on the battle-fields of Gallipoli, Horace Moore-Jones. Certainly Moore-Jones’ most famous subject, painted some six times, is Simpson and His Donkey. This subject depicts a soldier who saved wounded comrades by carrying them on his donkey to safety. It is with the greatest honor that Webb’s offers the only known night version of this subject and one of only two works outside of institutional collections, to the market.
