The American mid-20th century designs in the recent auction ‘Come Fly With Me’, a Webb’s collaboration with Mr. Bigglesworthy, were keenly sought by collectors. The event was set within a market largely occupied by Danish design and collectors were enthusiastic about the American pieces on offer. This resulted in the sale being one of the most successful ever held in this category.

With a sell-through rate by value of 85%, and sold pieces exceeding their low estimates by 128%, the sale generated strong competition by those seeking to acquire iconic designs rarely seen on the New Zealand market. Where in the past the market has responded most strongly to utilitarian furniture designs, this sale was counter trend and most of the focus was on statement design pieces, lighting and accessories.
