Webb’s are pleased to present Preview 2009 in Auckland, a survey exhibition of works by recent and current fine arts postgraduates from South Island tertiary institutions.

Preview, selected by Dr Warren Feeney, Director of COCA (Centre of Contemporary Art, Christchurch) is the fifth exhibition of this type curated by COCA to support emerging South Island practitioners. Beginning at COCA in Christchurch then traveling to Temple Gallery, Dunedin, the exhibition at Webb’s is the third and final installment of this year’s show.

Preview brings together a broad range of arts practices and celebrates the diversity of ideologies and processes, acknowledging that the content/context for this show is to provide an introduction to artists whose work is more likely to invite the gallery visitor to simultaneously give consideration to the small detail of their neighbourhood, while equally engaging with broader questions about the nature of human behaviour and existence.

The exhibition features works from 20 artists working in a variety of media including painting, sculpture and photography. A full colour glossy catalogue publication accompanies the exhibition with writing and images from each artist.
