The ‘Affordable and Estate Jewellery’ section of each sale, held earlier in the day, is popular with those keen on finding a bargain with its eclectic range of items, many of which are offered without reserve; while the evening session showcases the more important pieces many of which are unique to the New Zealand market.
The sales are conducted by Jewellery Consultant Christopher Devereaux, who has worked in association with Webb’s for over 17 years. His experience spans more than 30 years in the industry and he has been responsible for achieving numerous record prices at auction for solitaire diamonds, antique pieces, valuable watches and pieces by collectable early New Zealand jewellers.
Professional advice to sellers on anticipated market response, backed with solid evidence from past records, allows for informed decision-making. For buyers, Webb’s offers the security of accurate catalogue descriptions and independent gemmological reports for the more valuable items. Staff on hand at viewings are able to advise on the best options to meet your requirements, and to help you to understand the fine details and technical aspects of gemmological reports and valuations so that each buyer can make a good choice that will match both their budget and their taste.
Buying at auction can usually achieve either very considerable savings against new retail, or a substantially more impressive purchase for the same expenditure.
We offer a confidential appraisal service, by appointment only, for intending sellers which includes a verbal estimate of value and advice on marketing. That service is free of both charge and obligation.
