Over 70 artworks donated by New Zealand artists were sold at Webb's on Tuesday 20th October to raise funds for the relief effort in Samoa.
A full house and energetic crowd willing to raise funds for the Samoan Tsunami relief effort filled the rooms at Webb's last week raising over $90,000.
Works by a broad range of practioners made up the catalogue of just under 40 lots alongside a silent auction consisting of over 30 lots.
Highlights of the sale included $25,000 for a painting entitled Akmans Port Taranaki by Michael Smither, $5,000 for a small work on canvas by Shane Cotton and $3,200 for a painting by John Ioane. A strong selection of contemporary jewellery and objects completed an interesting catalogue.
Organised and instigated by the Tautai Contemporary Pacific Arts Trust, the success of the event lay in the generousity of the artists and volunteers who donated artworks and time to this important event.
