The Important Works of Art
Includes some of the most important modern and contemporary works of art ever to be offered at auction in this country. Webb’s presents Lying in the Black Land by Shane Cotton, 1998, a large scale work exploring the historical conflict between Christianity and Maoritanga. Also of significance is an emerald green ‘bird’ painting by Bill Hammond, Michael Parekowhai’s important, early sculptural work, Poorman, Beggarman Thief, (Poorman) as well as a Kapa Haka figure (Puhina) and a large, early ‘bird’ painting by Don Binney. 86 quality works on offer.
The Fine Jewellery and Watches

Antiques and Modern Design
This auction will feature fine pieces from the department’s specialist areas: sterling silver and silver plate, equestrian, furniture and rugs, ceramics, glass and 20th century design. Included is a fine and rare pair of double-barrelled sporting guns contained within a leather bound oak case, featuring finely engraved lock covers and figured walnut stocks. Also featured is a large and very impressive George II sterling silver lidded urn by the maker Fras Butty and Nicks Dumee, London 1768.
