High Performance Fundraising Event for Mercy Hospice Auckland

ART REVVED UP is a unique and extraordinary art event, featuring all kinds of out of the ordinary art. It’s a very different and exciting opportunity to view and purchase the 2008 Team McMillan BMW bonnets and other collectable works of art, experience displays of non-traditional artworks and enjoy tasty and substantial beverages and finger food. All in the urban minimalism of a funky Penrose warehouse. 

Internationally, BMW has been significant in commissioning major artists to paint complete BMW cars, including Alexander Calder, Roy Lichenstein, Andy Warhol and David Hockney. Here in New Zealand, Bob McMillan developed the idea of painting on display BMW bonnets, a new concept to the automotive industry.  These are shortened bonnets of fibreglass used as a canvas by the artist. As part of their commitment to the support of charity, Team McMillan BMW commissions artists to paint original works which are judged for a $10,000 first prize. The bonnets are then auctioned with proceeds going to charity - this year the selected charity is Mercy Hospice Auckland.

Ten exciting collectable original artworks will be auctioned by well-known art industry figure Peter Webb, founder of Webb's. Contributing Artists: Peter Siddell, Sylvia Siddell, Paul Hartigan, Roy Good, Lyn Berquist, John Reynolds, Anah Dunsheath, Christina Popovici, Justin Boroughs, Mervyn Williams. Other programmes includes: Original Art for Sale, Wearable Art, Body Art and Hip Hop World Title Holders.
