Please send a photograph of your property to the relevant specialist department and include the following information where known: artist or manufacturer, size, medium, date, a note of any inscriptions or marks and provenance. You are welcome to bring your property, with the exception of jewellery, to the gallery for evaluation without an appointment every Monday between 9.00AM and 12.00NOON. Evaluation of Jewellery is conducted by appointment only. Specialists are also available at your convenience by appointment.
Webb’s specialists regularly visit all of New Zealand’s main centres so you are welcome to request a home visit if you are outside of Auckland and wish to have a specialist visit your home.
Webb’s specialists will provide a current auction market estimate, suggest a reserve price and provide information on the next suitable auction date. Selling commission and an outline of the fees associated with selling will be discussed.
The evaluation of important material and collections includes a written document outlining Webb’s position in the market and an outline of how marketing would be handled to ensure the strongest bidding for the property.
As the consignor, the vendor is responsible for packing, shipping and transit insurance charges. However, if required, Webb's department staff are happy to assist in these arrangements.
Once you have received the evaluation and made a decision to consign your property into a Webb’s auction, you will be provided with a formal contract for sale. On the reverse of this contract are Webb’s Terms and Conditions for Sellers. A Webb's specialist will recommend a catalogue estimate range and discuss any reserves for the property and confirm the vendor’s commission. Any additional charges will be discussed and agreed. Additional charges include the cost of insuring the property while on the premises of Webb's, specialist catalogue illustration, and possible transport costs. These charges will be discussed in detail by the specialist who is consigning the property.
Shortly after the sale, you will receive a listing of the final hammer price for each item you consigned. Payment will be posted by mail within 10 working days from the last day of the suite of sales, provided Webb’s is in receipt of cleared funds from the buyer.
