Appraisals

When you have pieces to sell, the team of experts at Webb's will assist you through the process, starting with an evaluation of your items.

Please send a photograph of your property to the relevant specialist department and include the following information where known: artist or manufacturer, size, medium, date, a note of any inscriptions or marks and provenance. If you are not sure which department to contact, or if you have a variety of objects to value, please call reception on 09 5246804 or email auctions@webbs.co.nz

You are welcome to bring your property, with the exception of jewellery, to the gallery without an appointment every Monday between 9.00AM and 12.00PM.

Webb’s specialists regularly visit all of New Zealand’s main centres so you are welcome to request a home visit if you are outside of Auckland and wish to have a specialist come to your home.

Webb’s specialists will provide a current auction market estimate, suggest a reserve price and provide information on the next suitable auction date. Selling commission and an outline of the fees associated with selling will be discussed.

The evaluation of important material and collections includes a written document outlining Webb’s position in the market and an outline of how marketing would be handled to ensure the strongest bidding for the property.

For jewellery, watches and objects of virtu an appointment will need to be made with Jewellery Consultant, Christopher Devereaux. Condition is important for these items and their delicacy merits close inspection. Photographs, unless accompanied by full insurance valuation reports, will be insufficient for an appraisal.
