Our Fine & Rare Wines Department has led the New Zealand auction market since the early 80’s. With Live Auctions, Online & Buy Now sales throughout the year. We offer our clients not only a wide range of cellared Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, Rhone, Port & Spirits but also iconic wines from New Zealand, Australia, Italy & Spain.

We offer professional & independent advice on both selling & buying wine.

For sellers, Webb’s offers the option of both auction & private sales. We provide proposals to prospective consignors on how to maximize the value of your wine, & we arrange to ship your wine to our temperature-controlled cellar where we offer complimentary storage until their sale. Our specialists offer free & confidential valuations, whether for a single bottle or an entire cellar.

For buyers, we take pride in ensuring that they can be confident that all the wines Webb’s offers have been carefully inspected by our experienced specialists. Webb’s advises on the condition & provenance, this attracts many of the most prestigious collectors from New Zealand & around the world. We are happy to provide advice on cellar management as well as making recommendations on wines & are always available to advise on building & maintaining a collection.

Marcus Atkinson

Marcus is a highly experienced & widely respected fine & rare wine specialist, buyer & educator. He brings to Webb’s twenty-two years’ experience in the specialist wine trades of the UK, France, Australia & New Zealand.

International appointments have included retail management with Oddbins, Threshers & Sainsbury’s fine wine departments in Europe. Marcus has served as a high-end sommelier in London with viticulture & winemaking experience of the 2000 vintage in Bordeaux & Jurançon. Marcus holds an Applied Biology BSc (Hons) from Nottingham University & the Higher Certificate in Wine (WSET). He is currently completing his Diploma in Wines & Sprits (AIWS).

In 2005, Marcus located to Sydney furthering his endeavours with Australasia’s largest, privately-owned, direct-to-consumer wine retailer, United Cellars. Six years later, he bravely crossed the ditch & established the New Zealand division, as Director & Country Manager.

He enthusiastically heads the Rare & Fine Wines Department, utilising in-depth knowledge & top-notch advice, he provides his extraordinary clients, suppliers & wineries with exceptional service.

Steve Allen

Steve has two years with Webb’s and twenty years’ experience encompassing banqueting management via the Grosvenor House Hotel while completing the Wine & Spirit Education Trust Higher Certificate in London. Since returning to New Zealand he has been involved with wine retail, wine storage & wine export, most notably with Maison Vauron & DIVA New Zealand.
