Our Christchurch Presence

Webb’s has recently announced the appointment of Sean Duxfield, our new Christchurch-based Art Specialist, charged with servicing the South Island. Sean is available to assist with in-person appraisals, insurance valuations and offering advice and assistance in buying and selling at auction.

Opening our doors to the South Island

This is part of a long-term strategic effort by Webb’s to extend our reach, and service the wider regions of the South Island. The recognition of the strength of work produced by artists from or in response to this region is increasingly translating into record-breaking prices in the secondary market and it is an incredible time to be involved with this momentum.

“Since its inception, Webb’s has been committed to championing artistic expressions from across Aotearoa,” said Paul Evans, Webb’s Managing Director, “our recent opening of a gallery space in Wellington and the appointment of an Art Specialist in Christchurch continues our commitment to better understand and service the unique needs of those areas and further celebrate their invaluable voices. We look forward to seeing stronger representation of the South Island in our galleries.”

  • Sean has over three decades’ experience within the arts sector in a wide range of roles.

He has honed his technical and leadership skills at organisations such as the Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū, Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki, the Dowse Art Museum and the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery and developed significant experience in his own private capacity.
