Recent Live Auction
Works of Art
Monday 25 November, 6.30pm
With the year drawing to a close we are pleased to report that our final Works of Art auction for 2024 has seen us out with some fantastic results.
Headlining the catalogue was Robin White's beautiful and bittersweet Paremata Landscape; the large-scale, two-panel painting depicting the once-bush-clad hills surrounding the Paremata Inlet as they were being cleared to make way for housing. The work reached a price realised of $342,790 and we congratulate the buyer on securing an important example of White’s early regionalist style.
Further highlights came from two of Aotearoa's leading contemporary practitioners: Fiona Pardington and Lisa Reihana. Pardington's electric Pihipihi, Hunter achieved $53,775, while Reihana's Cook's Transit of Venus (12520/13065) sold for $35,850. The strength of these results underscore the increasing and deserved market interest in the perspectives of wāhine Māori artists.
Other standout results include Taramakau, by Toss Woollaston ($76,516), Pat Hanly's Bride, Mask & Groom ($42,849), Tony Fomison's Untitled #142 (Self portrait outside a cave in Kaikoura) ( $36,728), and Bill Hammond's The New Love Logos ($75,000), resulting in a sale total of 1.2 million dollars.
We are very excited for what 2025 will bring, starting with our first Works of Art auction for the year, taking place on Monday 24 March. If you have a significant work you are thinking of bringing to the secondary market we would love to speak with you.
