Webb’s final Fine Wines & Whiskies auction of 2024 opens today. This mouthwatering online sale is full of incredible bottles, with lots starting from as little as $1.

Sensational New Zealand and Australian wines are offered, many aged to perfection, ready to enjoy or cellar further.

Unmissable highlights include a 2006 Destiny Bay 'Destinae' and options from the legendary Barossa Valley winery, Torbreck. A stunning selection of Bordeaux include options from Lafite, Mouton, and Haut Brion, while Burgundy aficionados can indulge in bottles from renowned domaines such as Rousseau and Romanee-Conti.

We are inviting consignments of individual bottlings, or entire cellars for our August Fine Wines and Whiskies live auction.

This sale is ideal for significant single bottles and cases of New Zealand, Australian, and European wines. For this sale we will also have a strong focus on whiskies, in particular premium offerings from the likes of The Macallan, Glendronach, and The GlenAllachie. In our most recent Fine Wines and Whiskies online auction a Glendronach 1971 Single PX Cask 41 Year Old achieved an impressive $8,962.50 hammer, underscoring the current thirst for collectable whiskies within both the local and international market.

The demand for fine wines and rare whiskies has increased substantially in the last 6 years. This is illustrated by our recent sale of a signed assortment case of 1992 Domaine de la Romanee-Conti which achieved the price of $31,668, well exceeding expectations. Another recent  highlight saw the sale of an exceptional bottle of 50-year-old Macallan that realised a total of $155,000. 

Webb’s offers independent and professional advice on buying and selling wine. We hold up to 18 Fine Wines & Whiskies auctions each year in four categories: Live, Online, Single Owner and Buy Now. As well as offering Private Sales outside of auction through our Webb’s Wine Exchange.

For our consignors, we will maximise the value of your wines and whiskies. Once consigned, we can ship your wine to our temperature-controlled cellar where we offer complimentary storage until it is sold.

  • Marcus is a highly experienced and widely respected Fine Wines & Whiskies expert, auctioneer and educator. He has 25 years of experience in the specialist wine trades of Britain, France, Australia and New Zealand. Marcus has held previous appointments managing fine wine departments for Oddbins, Threshers and Sainsbury’s in London & Europe.

    Marcus joined Webb’s after 13 years in a direct-to-consumer winery consultancy and liaison merchant in Australia. He established their New Zealand division in 2008, moving to Aotearoa in 2011 as NZ Director.

    Marcus has also previously served as a sommelier at ‘Le Pont de la Tour’; a UK fine-dining institution with viticultural and winemaking experience of the 2000 vintage in Bordeaux and Jurançon. Marcus holds an Applied Biology BSc (Hons) from Nottingham University and holds a Diploma in Wines and Spirits (AIWS) with the Wine & Spirits Education Trust (WSET).

Marshell Wan 尹翰深

Manager, Fine Wines & Whiskies

  • Marshell is highly specialised in the Asian wine trading market. He brings his experience as a buyer in Bordeaux, France to the Webb’s team in his role as Fine and Rare Wines Specialist. His key focus is on generations X, Y, and Z in the Chinese wine auction market.

    Marshell holds a Bachelor of Business Studies degree from the University of Exeter, and an MSc in Wine Management from the Burgundy Business school in Dijon. He is proficient in Burgundy and Bordeaux wines, has attained a Level 3 Wine and Spirit Education Trust Certificate, and has Level 4 certification well within reach.

    Marshell ran his own wine trading business while studying, and accumulated a number of clients in the Asian and Europe region. In the process, he honed his industry research and analysis skills. This knowledge has led to proven sales results.

    Early 2020 marked Marshell’s return to New Zealand from France. With Webb’s, he is taking his knowledge of the world of wine to new heights. He is dedicated to providing exemplary service, ensuring that vendors and buyers have excellent auction experiences.

Kostin Wu 吴彦成

Specialist, Fine Wines & Whiskies


  • Kostin Wu, a seasoned wine expert and communicator, brings extensive knowledge to Webb's Fine Wines & Whiskies Department.

    Prior to joining the team, he dedicated nearly five years to managing vineyards and crafting wines in Hawke’s Bay and Napa Valley and for the likes of Church Road and Pine Ridge Vineyards.

    His expertise extends to navigating the export business and successfully introducing New Zealand wine brands to the Chinese market. 

    Kostin achieved a BSc in Wine Science from the Eastern Institute of Technology, in Hawke’s Bay and holds a Level 3 WSET Certificate.  He is on the brink of completing his WSET Diploma.

    His proficiency lies not only in the technical aspects of winemaking but also in conveying profound wine knowledge to enthusiasts. Kostin's approach involves enthusiastically integrating wine tasting with an understanding of terroir and the science of winemaking.

    Kostin joined Webb's in 2022, boosting customer engagement by providing Webb’s clients enriched cultural wine experiences. Kostin's unique blend of global wine landscape comprehension and a genuine craftsman’s passion sets him apart in delivering unparalleled service to wine vendors and bidders alike.
