Pagodas, Tigers on offer + Webb's Turns Fifty

2026 marks Webb's 50th year — and the Collectors' Cars, Motorcycles & Automobilia department is celebrating in style. From a headline Mercedes-Benz 'Pagoda' to a rare Sunbeam Tiger, and a special single-owner Volkswagen collection, this catalogue is one to savour.

Beauty, balance, and rarity: the highlights that define Webb's Collectors' Cars auction as we enter our 50th year.

A landmark anniversary deserves landmark lots. Here, we introduce the cars — and the collection — that lead the way.

Chris Wiseman
Head of Collectors’ Cars, Motorcycles and Automobilia

2026 marks my first year as Head of Collectors’ Cars, Motorcycles & Automobilia. During my time at Webb’s we’ve sold a Rolls-Royce graced by Queen Elizabeth II, a Mercedes-Benz with just 179 counterparts globally, and, in just five months, over $1 million dollars worth of the beautiful Mercedes-Benz ‘Pagoda.’

The ‘Pagoda’ finds its brilliance not only in its beauty, but in its balance. It is simple, useable and design focused, so it’s also broadly in demand. Lot 26 in this catalogue should be no different, a RHD example in red. It is a fitting car with which to usher in our 50th year.

Lot 26. 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SL 'Pagoda' (W113). EST. $250,000—$275,000

It’s joined at the headline by an excellent Sunbeam Tiger (Lot 7), a rare icon of mid-century British high performance, engineered with input from Carroll Shelby, and built to the tune of just 7,083 worldwide.

Lot 7. 1966 Sunbeam Tiger. EST. $110,000—$125,000

We are also privileged to offer the collection of the late Jim Wilson — founder of Phantom Billstickers, and a creative pioneer in Auckland and New Zealand. We are grateful to his family for allowing us the chance to convey these four outstanding Volkswagen’s and an amazing 1967 Saab to new homes.

Lot 15. 1967 Saab 96 V4. EST. $20,000—$25,000

I warmly invite you to enjoy your reading of our catalogue, and of course attend the auction’s launch and week of viewing, not forgetting the big day of Live Auction itself.
