Webb’s Partners with Te Uru

Webb’s is proud to be lending its auctioneering expertise —for the second year running— to West Auckland’s leading contemporary, public art gallery Te Uru as it conducts its 2025 auction fundraiser.

Lot 21. Judy Millar, Dinner at the Coast. EST. $2,000—$4,000

Te Uru Waitākere Contemporary Gallery is conducting its annual art auction fundraiser and Webb’s is proud to be lending its auctioneering expertise to the vibrant, green gem on West Auckland’s creative crown.

The catalogue — titled ‘New Winds’ after the gallery’s namesake ‘Te Hau a Uru,’ the wind that blows from the west — will be on view at its award-winning Tititrangi location from 2—17 August.

All artworks will be up for sale through an online auction — facilitated by Webb’s — and include artists who have benefited from the many endeavours by the gallery, exhibited there or who harken from the lush coastal area.

Webb’s recognises West Auckland’s incredibly vibrant and unique arts scene, one which has embraced and inspired artists such as Colin McCahon, Judy Millar, Max Gimblett, Dean Buchanan, and many more.

Lot 11. Gretchen Albrecht, Reflection, 2023, polymer photograve etching on paper, 4/26, 805 x 1020mm. EST. $8,300–$10,000

Te Uru is at the heart of this thriving cultural ecosystem, providing not just support and infrastructure but an invaluable sense of community to a large, diverse and very talented group of practitioners. We are honoured to be able to lend a hand in raising much needed funds to ensure the excellent work by Te Uru continues, benefiting not just its regional but also our national art discourse.

This catalogue includes art, in variety of media, by Te Uru alumni artists such as Gretchen Albrecht, Hiria Anderson-Mita, Joyce Campbell, Robert Ellis, Hannah Ireland, Gregor Kregar, Judy Millar, Michael Parekōwhai, Séraphine Pick, James Ross, Ava Seymour, Ann Shelton, Elizabeth Thomson, Salome Tanuvasa, Gordon Walters, Ans Westra, and Laura Williams.

Auction proceeds, including buyers’ premiums, will go to supporting artists and the development of ambitious new projects at Te Uru over the coming year.

New Winds is an ideal opportunity to acquire work by some of the country’s leading contemporary artists while supporting the future development of art in Aotearoa.

Bids can be placed online with bidding closing on Sunday 17 August, from 8pm. View catalogue and place your bids.

About Webb’s Charity Endeavours

Culture, creativity and philanthropy go hand in hand and, since its inception, Webb’s has and continues to celebrate and support that relationship through: Strategic partnerships, pro-bono auctions, charity events and exhibitions, advice and more to a myriad of organisations and individuals across New Zealand.

From supporting writers, designers and photographers via the production of extensive, industry-defining print catalogues; through to organising and running complex online and live auctions to raise funds for non-for-profit organisations: Our team is always cognisant of the symbiotic relationship between arts patronage and a thriving secondary market.

These initiatives are as much about being a good corporate citizen as they are about contributing to the cultural ecology that supports us and helps us thrive in Aotearoa, while also trying to do our bit to promote the artistic, design, and material culture that reflects our diverse communities’ uniqueness and our identity within the Pacific and the world.
