About the Exhibition
Wellington Gallery's summer selling exhibition A Calm Day: Four Painters is a showcase of contemporary painting that turns our attention to rest, rhythm, whenua and reconnection. In a cultural moment defined by speed and saturation, the exhibition proposes a quieter tempo, one attuned to warmer days, drifting clouds, expansive horizons and the subtle recalibration that occurs when we allow ourselves to pause.
Bringing together four accomplished, award-recognised artists with international experience—including exhibitors at the Auckland Art Fair 2025 and recipients of the Prime Minister’s Scholarship for Latin America—the show foregrounds painting as a space for contemplation and return. Across distinct practices, Robyn Penn, Tara Luty, Alexander John Hope and Lewis Vivian Cosgrove all engage deeply with landscape and cloudscape, memory and place, reflecting on how we inhabit land and time.
Join us now for this leisurely, meditative celebration of slowing down. All artworks are available for immediate purchase and they do not incur a buyer's premium.
